The JPJ Speed Limiter Device (SLD) mandate applies to two categories of vehicles operating in Malaysia. Check if your vehicle is affected.
Vehicles manufactured after Jan 2015 that already have an Engine Control Module (ECM). The SLD system exists but needs to be verified and reported. Enforcement for this group began 1 October 2025.
Older vehicles that have an ECM but the speed limiter function has not been activated. The SLD function needs to be switched on and calibrated. In force since 1 January 2026.
Vehicles that have no SLD system installed at all. A physical speed limiter device must be retrofitted and certified by an authorized hub. The final deadline for this group was 1 July 2026 — vehicles still without a device are now overdue.
